Electronics
The MRT8 employs a custom designed ECU (Electronic Control Unit). The ECU is
primarily used to control the engine injection and ignition. It uses analog electronic devices to
measure crankshaft angular velocity, manifold air pressure, throttle position, oxygen content in
exhaust gases and engine temperature.
Moreover, ECU acts as a real-time data acquisition system. It sends RPM, speed
and engine temperature readings on a serial link to our steering wheel mounted PDA. It also sends RPM
and gear PWM signals that activate our steering shifting-lights and gear-position-lights.
